the Irish Second-level Students’ Union is proud to announce the launch of our Fourth wORKING gROUP, THE Rural Students Sustainability Working Group led by our Sustainability Officer.

The Rural Students Sustainability Working Group will focus on assisting the Sustainability officer in support the creation of the social mobility campaign, it will also be heavily instrumental in designing the SDGS and Me event. The members of the working group will consult and provide insights to the sustainability officer on sustainability for rural students.

This working group is open to all second-level students across the country and we would love to have you join This Working Group.

Role of members

Providing their insight on what workshops would be most effective to run at SDGs and Me event 

Participating in rural students campaign eg: short videos, instagram lives

Lobbying government via email for increased transport links for rural youth

To provide the Sustainability Officer with a range of insights on the issues pertaining to sustainability, that they are affected by due to their geographical location

To aid in the creation of a resource on rural student life


Time commitment

The time commitment for this working group will be 1-2 hours per week. 1 hour call per week and up to 1 hour of independent work or assignments may arise from this working group.

(this may slightly increase in November as SDGS and Me event approaches)

The ISSU will provide you with the google G-suite, free of charge, however you should be easily accessible and must communicate through this platform.
